When we think about gender in the classical sense, we often think of it in two categories: male and female. From a biological perspective, this seems to agree, because „sex“ or biological gender is
made up of the following three components: Genitalia, Hormones, and Chromosomes. This
composition then suggests whether we are dealing with a female or male individual. However, it is
often forgotten that gender is not only visible in the form of sexual characteristics, but also entails
social dimensions. Thus, the so-called social sex, also called „gender“, is the one that is directly
lived and felt. However, this is accompanied by social expectations and a preconceived image of
what is culturally defined as „male“ and what is defined as „female“. Accordingly, gender is
associated with certain norms, rules of behavior, and stereotypes that have existed for millennia.
Thus, the man in the traditional sense, is considered strong, assertive and loud while the woman is
assigned the attributes social, neat and conscientious. These pigeonholes are often obstructive and
lead to a bias based on prejudice and stereotypical thinking. In addition, there is a range of other
gender identities besides the categories of male and female. For example, someone can be
nonbinary, transgender, or intersex. In addition, gender identity can also readily diverge from
gender expression. For example, a cis man can behave in a classically „feminine“ way without
being less masculine. For far too long, we have allowed ourselves to be pushed back by precisely
those limiting thoughts. That is why it is high time to clear out the old drawers and to establish a
new way of thinking. A way of thinking that allows free development and sees people for what they
are: diverse. In 2030, this free, unprejudiced thinking will finally become reality. The fact that
gender was once linked to a fixed role model remains nothing more than a vague memory for many.
After all, each individual now decides for himself or herself which gender he or she identifies with.
Whether male, female or genderqueer, the boundaries are fluid. No one is reduced to their
biological sex anymore, but is allowed to be whoever they want. The motto is colorful, value-free
and self-determined.
