Hello. I am Erdem Gul and today is May 22, 2030. I am an architect looking for a house and I gladly accepted the interview offer.
I remember the year 2020. Although house prices were increasing day by day, it was at a level that an architect could easily pay with the salary he earned. However, I am having a hard time finding a house at the level I want with the increase in the population due to the high housing market and the growth of immigration to my country.
Some want to live in the centre of the city, while others want to live in a quiet place away from the noise of the city. My choice was to keep a house in the city centre due to my job. However, this isn’t easy. With the real estate market being very popular, prices have increased a lot compared to the last ten years. New universities were built in my city and thus the student population increased. Naturally, students also want to live somewhere in the centre of the city. Some landlords are still unwilling to rent a student home as they were ten years ago. Some other landlords increase the rent compared to the normal one and rent it to students.
In addition, the aesthetics of newly constructed buildings have changed over the years. The buildings in the city centre are designed so that many people can live in one apartment. The buildings far from the city centre are quite large and comfortable.
I want to say that I am not very happy with this situation. Realtors are very opportunistic. Those who are trying to rent a new home do not understand much. Also, homeowners’ thinking hasn’t changed much in the last ten years. Discrimination against married couples in renting an apartment is never done to us, single people. This process hasn’t changed from 2020 to 2030 but hopefully, it will change in the next 10 years.
