Managing Director Moritz Feldbusch on fake news and why it has always existed

“Hate speech and fake news have always existed and always will. Yes, the Internet is an amazing invention that brings people together and happiness across the globe – but this phenomenon also has its downsides,” a representative of one of these companies tells me. He wants to remain anonymous, so from here on we’ll call him Moritz Feldbusch.
Moritz Feldbusch is middle-aged and managing director of a well-known company. We visited him and talked to him about how he wants to tackle fake news and hate speech.
“Block and report is one of the best features”. Mr. Feldbusch and his team make use of these tools on social networks when it is really necessary. Sometimes people go nuts and jump on you – you can’t and shouldn’t put yourself in this situation. Initially, the team thought it was a non-productive solution, but time shows that it has stood the test of time. So-called Internet trolls often appear in groups – this means that you can set up real reporting or block chains and are left alone in the long term. But what has actually become of conventional communication? Can any critical voices be heard by Mr. Feldbusch and his team? “Yes!” he says. Of course, critical posts are moderated appropriately and people are spoken to at eye level. There is a clear difference between a conversation and hate speech – you have to be able to differentiate.
“Fake News – tell me something new!”
Fake news has always existed. The internet should not be demonized – after all the internet is a tool, a platform and bad people who lie in everyday life will also use it on the internet. Especially when the criminal prosecution has so far been so succinct. People think the Internet is a legal vacuum – it’s not, and as a consumer you should keep that in mind!
