In the new world order, where nearly 50% of the world’s population has decided to become vegan, we decided to interview to obtain enlightening information about veganism. We had no difficulty in finding someone to interview on this subject. But we are with Timur Ilmann, President of the World Vegans Association, one of the most activist vegans. First of all, what is vegan? I want to ask this question.
Vegan: Veganism is a philosophy established not to cause suffering or cruelty to animals. Vegans do not use any animal products. Contrary to popular belief, this ethical stance covers not only nutrition but also other areas of life. For example, a vegan does not use fur or buy products that are tested on animals. In short, it avoids anything that harms sentient beings. Vegan is the naming used for people who adopt this idea and feed it into their lives.
Reporter: So why should we be vegan? What do you think?
Vegan: Today, I observe that veganism comes to life thanks to 3 aspects. These are environmental, ethical and health dimensions, respectively. The main reason among them is ethics. Industries that use animals place animals as a commodity and inflict serious suffering on them.
Reporter: Do you have hostility towards meat-eaters?
Vegan: No, I’m not hostile to meat-eaters. Our perception of non-humans today has been incredibly disfigured and manipulated. None of us, including myself, were born vegan, but in this age where there is so much knowledge and awareness, I think it is not virtuous to know and ignore them.
Reporter: Thank you for this nice short interview. I hope we meet again in a new world order you want. Have a nice day.
